That was my Facebook status a couple of months ago after seeing the quote below by Leonard Cohen.
All of the experiences we have are the sum total of who we are as individuals. The ability to see joys, blessings, and happiness is usually borne of great pain somewhere along our journey. Our failures, losses, and struggles make us wiser, stronger, and more empathetic. Those ‘cracks’ give us perspective in our lives and add nuances to our personality that nobody else can experience.
In other words, our imperfections make us uniquely beautiful. All we need to do is stand in the sunshine of self acceptance and let the light shine through.
“Wear them with pride!” Yup! We earned every one right?!

I love this post, Dawn and I strongly relate to what you say about being able to enjoy life due to getting through prolonged pain. I hope that sums it up as I’m a bit worn out from writing D today. Please try to read D as I think it will really move you. D is an author and poet known or him humour and yet he really knew anguish. Its such an encouraging story, although it’s a pretty long post. I just couldn’t cut it down without losing a vital part of the story.

I have so many cracks (and wrinkles), I think I’m almost transparent! Either that or a puddle of broken pieces scattered all over the ground. 🙂
