During our stay in Asheville, we camped at Hominy Valley RV Park in Candler, North Carolina. This was a hidden gem, and I hesitate recommending it because it’s a well-kept secret.
PRICE POINT, CLEANLINESS, AND APPEARANCE: Our week-long stay was $280. In our opinion, it was a little high for what the campground offers, but the location made the dent in the pocketbook feel a little bit better. The park was clean, well-maintained, and was situated smack dab in the middle of the foothills leading to the Blue Ridge Parkway. There were only five spaces, so it’s quiet and secluded. It’s located in a clearing off the road leading to the Parkway (Pisgah Highway), so there is some traffic noise, but it is minimized by the huge trees surrounding the park.
EASE IN ENTERING AND EXITING THE SITES AND ACCESS TO HOOKUPS: The sites were back-in, but there was plenty of room to navigate all types of rigs. Hookups were modern and easy to access.
AMENITIES/WI-FI: Other than location and hookups, there were no amenities in this quiet campground. The Wi-Fi was adequate for e-mails, but not for downloading, uploading, streaming, or working. The hidden gem of this RV park was location. Downtown Asheville was just ten minutes away when turning left out of the campground, but turning right was a winding mountain road climbing Mount Pisgah and ended at the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway.
FRIENDLINESS OF STAFF: Mr. Fred, the owner, is very friendly. The camp hosts were available to assign sites, answer questions about the campground, and local activities.
WOULD WE STAY AGAIN: Yes, if there is space availability as the park gains popularity. Asheville is one of our favorite stops and this campground is quiet and convenient to family, attractions, and the gorgeous blue ridge mountains.

Candler! Our son lived in Candler until a year ago. He was 20 minutes away from us. He’s in Hot Springs now, so we don’t go to Candler as often as we once did. I’m so glad you found this small RV park and hope it will always be available for you.

Love that area, my Grandmother had a dairy farm in Mills River, NC. Not too far from the Pisgah Mountains. Every vacation my family took was down there. Wonderful memories.
