On our way from Michigan to Louisiana, we stopped for a week in Indiana along Lake Michigan. Indiana Dune State Park is a lovely RV park located within the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.
PRICE POINT, CLEANLINESS, AND APPEARANCE: The price was reasonable at $30 per night. The park was immaculate with spacious back-in sites for any sized rig.
EASE IN ENTERING AND EXITING THE SITES AND ACCESS TO HOOKUPS: The park was spacious and set up for any type of rig from tents to busses. There were electric only hookups at the sites, but the dump station was situated just outside the entrance and a water filling station easily accessed within the park.
AMENITIES/WI-FI: The breathtaking amenities were the dunes themselves. It’s just a short walk to the beachfront of Lake Michigan among sand dunes for climbing and sliding. The Chicago skyline was visible across the Lake. It had beautiful nature trails and there were creative geocaches hidden within the park. Since there were no sewer hookups, the bathroom and shower rooms were large and within a short walking distance from all sites. The showers were private and had two separate areas, one for dry changing and the shower stall itself. We never ran out of hot water in the showers–it was wonderful. There was a gift shop and camp store with necessities on site. It was also only a block or so away from the train station, and it’s a great adventure to take the South Shore into downtown Chicago.
FRIENDLINESS OF STAFF: The park rangers were informative and efficient. We were greeted with smiles and our site packet was ready and waiting for us.
WOULD WE STAY AGAIN: Yes. Mike grew up in the area and we have friends in Chicago. It’s a quiet oasis with plenty of local activities to enjoy.

You’re so lucky to have memories of growing up there! I love that place.
Mike and I spent a lot of time in that park as kids… Including NOT camping once…LOL! But the tent went up in my parents back yard and BBQ grill was used as a campfire. Good times!
