Wapakoneta KOA – Wapakoneta, Ohio – Campground Review – Full-Time RV Life

While traveling to Michigan from Florida, we spent a week at the Wapakoneta KOA Holiday to spend time with family.

PRICE POINT, CLEANLINESS, AND APPEARANCE:  We try not to stay at KOAs because their price point is ridiculously high ($350 for the week and one day).  However, we were close to family for a very short time, and there wasn’t much to choose from in the rural area.   Not only did they charge for the site, but they wanted $7 per visitor, whether they used the amenities or not.  However, the park was clean and easily navigated by all sizes of rigs.

EASE IN ENTERING AND EXITING THE SITES AND ACCESS TO HOOKUPS:   Because we were staying for a week or longer, we were given a back-in site.  It was spacious and easily maneuvered.  Hookups were convenient and in wonderful condition.

AMENITIES/WI-FI:  There were the typical KOA amenities:  pool, camp store, mini golf course, and covered pavilion.  Wi-Fi was only adequate for e-mail.  The dog park was the only amenity we had time to enjoy, and Lexie (our bullmastiff) loved it.  She could run off leash and they had plenty of tennis balls, deflated basketballs, and obstacle courses for her to play.

FRIENDLINESS OF STAFF:  We were busy with family during our visit and didn’t interact with the staff often.  Check-in was a little harried because we had been on the road for a long period of time and there was confusion among the office staff about our site.

WOULD WE STAY AGAIN:  To Lexie’s dismay, probably not.  My mom had to pay to come and visit at the campsite and the overall price to stay there was just–I can’t believe we paid that fee.  The time in Wapakoneta was wonderful because of the family visits, but the park is way too expensive.  Next time,  we will find somewhere else to stay and would rather boondock on a friend’s farm before camping there ever again.
